Tipsters pointed investigators to Marbury native Demetrius Donya Brown, 27, who was caught after posting the sale of illicit photos of a young child more than 200 times last year.
In December 2023, Charles County Sheriff’s Office received a Cyber tip, which was then reported to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children by a social media platform.
According to the information provided, a user was advertising child porn files for sale and indicated that the pictures were that of a girl, who was also identified by her first and last name.
Investigators say that between Nov. 24 and Nov. 27 last year, the account posted the sale of the pictures hundreds of times through social media.
Members of the Charles County Sheriff's Office identified Brown as the suspect, and during a subsequent search of his devices, investigators uncovered multiple child porn files, and evidence linked Brown to the social media site.
Detectives later were able to identify the victim as a 16-year-old girl from a different state whose photos were leaked in 2022 when she was 14 years old.
Brown submitted a guilty plea late last month, officials said, and is in custody at the Charles County Detention Center awaiting sentencing. The case remains under investigation.
